Natlu Privacy Policy
About the app
Natlu (نتلو), bundle identifier sa.com.marahel.natlu.reader, is operated by Marahel Digital Company for Hadiyat Al-Hajj Wal-Mu'tamir Charitable Association. Questions about this policy can be sent to dev@marahel.com.sa.
Natlu is free, with no advertising, in-app purchases, subscriptions, or other monetization. It does not require registration or an account. Natlu does not include any third-party analytics SDK.
Recitation and microphone access
The app requests microphone permission when you start a recitation activity. The app's AI models are bundled with it and process your recitation on your device, without an internet connection. Natlu does not automatically upload your microphone audio to a server. You can use the Quran reader without granting microphone access.
Saving recordings is optional and off by default. If you enable it, recordings are saved locally so you can replay them or choose to share them. Turning recording retention off stops future saving; use the recording-deletion control in Settings to remove existing recordings. You can revoke microphone permission through iOS Settings.
Information stored on your device
The app stores your preferences, reading position, bookmarks, notes, plans, practice summaries, review items, and listening observations locally to provide its features. These remain until you remove them using the relevant controls or delete the app. Offloading the app can retain its documents and data; deleting the app removes its local data. There is no automatic account-based cloud synchronization.
Practice history, saved microphone recordings, study records, and downloaded reference audio have separate controls. Deleting downloaded reference audio does not delete your practice history or notes. A recording you have already exported can no longer be removed with the app's deletion controls.
The app excludes its practice library, saved recordings, study library, and downloaded reference audio from system backups. Some app preferences may be included in device backups. Exported copies follow the chosen destination's backup practices.
Reference downloads and external websites
When you download or start listening to reference recitations, the app requests missing audio from EveryAyah. If surah continuation is enabled, the app also downloads the next surah in advance during that listening session. Continuation is on by default and can be changed in the listening settings. Requests identify the reciter and verse and expose normal network information, such as your IP address, to that service and its infrastructure. They do not include your microphone recording, private notes, or practice history. Natlu does not send EveryAyah your name, email address, or any account information. EveryAyah is an independent service, and it handles the technical data in these requests under its own practices.
The Quran text, along with the bundled Arabic explanation and English meanings, can be read offline. The app also includes 22 Al-Husary reference recordings for the four supported practice surahs. Downloading additional recordings is separate from the on-device AI processing described above. If you choose to open a publisher or source link in the app, including the About page, the external website handles that visit under its own policies.
Exports and sharing
You can choose to export your study library or share a teacher packet and selected recordings. The app presents these actions for your review and uses the standard iOS file and sharing screens. The app does not automatically send anything to a teacher. Once you send or save an export to another app, person, or storage provider, that destination's practices apply. Remove such copies at their destination if you want them deleted.
Reminders
If you enable reading reminders, the app requests notification permission and schedules local notifications. You can disable reminders in the app or change notification permission in iOS Settings.
TestFlight and support
When you install this beta through TestFlight, Apple provides beta-testing diagnostics and feedback mechanisms under its TestFlight terms and privacy information. If you send a screenshot, comment, or other feedback, Apple may make that feedback and associated testing information available to the app developer. Only include content you intend to share.
If you contact support, we receive the information you choose to provide, such as your email address, message, and attachments, and use it to respond and investigate problems. We retain support correspondence and feedback for up to 12 months to resolve your inquiry and improve our services, after which it is securely deleted. You can request deletion at any time by contacting dev@marahel.com.sa.
Your choices and changes
You can deny or revoke microphone and notification permissions, disable recording retention, delete local records through the relevant controls, and choose whether to export or share content. To ask about information sent to support, contact dev@marahel.com.sa. Copies sent to third parties must also be managed with those recipients.
We will update this policy if the app's data practices change, and the effective date at the top of the page will show when the current version took effect.
